About

Salam! Peace!
Nice to see you here!

I am Ambreen Arshad, a journalist, editor and now a blogger. I have a day job as the Section In-Charge of Young World, Dawn’s children’s magazine, and a 24/7 job as a woman with three kids – one of which is my mother-in-law’s.

This blog is the result of a desire to break free of editorial policy and newspaper space constraints and do whatever I like with words.

I once read somewhere that if you choose a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life. That’s so very true for me.

Since I stepped into journalism some two decades back, I really haven’t felt that I have worked for a day – even on the days my eyes got fuzzy staring at the screen and my wrists ached from typing, or on the nights I stayed up finishing an article to meet the deadline.

Words have always been like oxygen to me – reading and writing being as instinctive as breathing. So I will be writing about things I feel passionate about, things I see around me that need being talked about and some observations.

And I will also be posting my articles published in Dawn over the years, on all kinds of topics, a lot of which have lately been focused on children and youth due to my current responsibilities in Young World. I have written for many sections of my newspaper and other publications, but never have I enjoyed writing more than I have enjoyed writing for children and young adults.

So self-development, studies, skills and such topics will make a bulk of this blog’s content, as well as my views on news and other things happening around Karachi and the world.

I would love to hear from you and get to know your take on my articles, or just random thoughts we can bond over.
